As a University project, we were asked to choose an industry within the Graphic Design world and do a project based on it. Having always been very fascinated by the world of the moving image, I decided to focus on production design, more specifically on the creation of intros for Tv Shows. I then chose to pick a show I didn’t like the intro of, and to try and re-make it. My choice was Breaking Bad. Although I believe it’s one one of the best Tv Shows ever made, I couldn’t help but find myself disappointed by its intro as I found it to be done a bit last minute. What I decided to do was to focus on some of the key elements of the show. In order to do so, I decided to use a technique that reminded me of the X-Rays (as the main character suffers from cancer) which was to create photograms. I combined all the elements, edited them and animated them with After Effects. I ended up tweaking the main title too and created a version with the actor’s names and one without. I did decide to keep the original soundtrack as the animation was made with the soundtrack in mind.
