neon project
During my first year in the Graphic & Media Design course, we were given a typography project. The brief was pretty free, what mattered was for us to be investigating some form of typography we encountered. Having been fascinated with neon signs for a while, I decided to focus on the ones around the London Soho area. When photographing them the first times, I started questioning their efficiency as well as their utility. I, therefore, started taking the pictures with a long exposure technique, so that, by moving around the camera, I could change up the layouts. In post-production, I then decided to play with some of the colors, with the aim of taking away the main purpose of the signs I photographed, which was informational based and transformed it in a purely aesthetical one.
