For one of our University projects, we got asked to create a vinyl from scratch. As the starting point, we got given a random typeface, from which we were asked to come up with a music genre and artist name. The genre chosen was Techno, and the artist’s name we came up with was “Sicario”. With the information chosen in mind, I proceeded to create everything shown, except for the vinyl, which I found in a thrift shop. The concept behind the imaginary is related to the techno clubs in Berlin, where the walls have multiple layers of paint that have built up over the years. I recreated the effect in printmaking and scanned it to then pixelate it. The outer sleeve was laser cut following the pixelated pattern.
